SAD SONG? Think Again: P1Harmony Delivers Happy Vibes only with new album SAD SONG.

P1Harmony is best defined by their unique energy, lively blend of chaos, and the clear passion of six people who genuinely love what they do. Their last album, 'Killin It' back in January, introduced the ear worm that was the lead track, Killin’ It. Since then, they have gone on to tour across America and have appeared in fun campaigns with fans at Hello 82 pop-ups.

Opening the album with SAD SONG, and don’t let the title fool you as it’s far from sad. Instead, it lifts you up and makes you want to dance around with an EDM beat that loudly dominates the track. What makes the group so excellent is that the rappers Intak and Jongseob rapid rap elevates the song, while Keeho's distinctive vocals cool it down, which results in the perfect song for an opening track. It’s not for those who perhaps shy away from explosive sounds in their earphones. However, if you’re a fan of the group, then well you come to expect at least one party song that encourages you to let loose. Though there are elements longing for that loved one, especially when Keeho and Theo on the bridge sing, “Our memories together /I miss the times we had (I miss the times we had) /Yeah, it's true (Oh) /You'll miss me one day.”

For those prefer a more softer sound, they’ve got you covered with It’s Alright. A beautiful smooth number that allows the boys vocals to shine. What’s great is their ability to show their duality by shifting between the high-energy number that was the first track to this more calmer vibe. The message is unified in reassuring those listening to not worry about feeling alone, and instead is a swan song about finding the strength to keep going. The songs lyrics, “There is someone who knows who I am, I'm not lonely (Lonely) /Well, it's alright /I notice myself as my own friend for everything that I did, yeah (Yeah.)" Not only will they resonate with many but is genuine, and can perhaps install some confidence to listeners. Its as if the group intentionally placed these first two songs to offer comfort to those dealing with heartbreak or struggles, giving listeners the choice to connect with the sound preferences that suits them.

Last Call is a joyful 2000’s song that sounds like it belongs on a teenage romcom soundtrack, full of high school parties and the joys that come with a carefree youth. With Jongseob rapping and Soul's vocals they layer nicely into the pre-chorus, “I know what you want /Right now, everything is blah, blah, blah, blah, blah / We sing exciting songs." But the chorus is instantly a fun burst of "oh oh’s" and whilst it’s not anything new in terms of sound and lyricism, it's a feel-good number where you can shout let’s go to pep some energy into you!

Welcome To takes a surprising turn with it's rock-driven sound, where the electric guitars work so well alongside Theo and Keeho’s voices. Rock really suits them, and it's the pre-chorus and chorus is the crowning glory, with their relatable, confidence-boost of words, ones that are needed on those days that feel, well, a bit dull, reminding everyone: “There couldn't be highs without the lows /Get up, don't despair /All you need is one yes when they all say no/ Believe in yourself, here we go.”

From rock we transition into the R&B love song All You. There’s always one slow heartfelt song on an album of theirs and this is where Soul, Jiung, and Keeho showcase their vocals beautifully. What’s always so enjoyable with P1Harmony albums is the track listing always flows so well. There’s never a disjointed placement, and they always manage to blend the sounds nicely without any real jolt.

It may be titled WASP but she is the album’s queen bee, a gritty rap track that puts them in the fast lane. A unit number with Intak and Jongseob writing the track, but it’s Jongseob who completely dominates, it is hard to believe he’s just 18 years old, and at such a young age the future is incredibly bright for him. He and Intak take the opportunity to show in just the short 2 mins and 42 seconds just why they are some of the best in the game at the moment. There are many rappers in the industry, but their pace and vigour has a flair that others fail to meet. Both invite you the listener to be part of their group and become part of the hive.

The album concludes with the English version of SAD SONG, which is just as high paced as the Korean version. Overall, P1Harmony has once again created another fantastic album, exploring a variety of sounds and genres across seven tracks. They are a group that consistently create something new, fresh, and most importantly fun. It's safe to say that this might arguably be their strongest album in their five year discography.
